I was sitting around earlier today and reading yet another forum thread about Frostmourne, as some people think it would be outrageous if this fabulous sword is going to drop, when we’re finally going to take out Arthas – The Lich King – in Icecrown Citadel. There were also some discussions about who were going to assist us in that fight, as we’ll doubtfully finish him off alone.
Then, all of a sudden, it dawned on me. It’s been a while since we’ve heard about Muradin Bronzebeard, after he was found out to be alive, and king of The Frostborn in Northrend’s Storm Peaks. After meeting up with his two brothers, he was off to find Arthas… and that’s the last we heard of him. Did he arrive yet…?
Frostmourne the runeblade is, most likely, going to be dropped, no matter how bad some people don’t want it to happen. Surely, with the Lich King himself dead, the magic and corruption oozing from the sword will fade, and – more or less – just be a very fancy looking sword, like for instance, the Warglaives of Azzinoth. If not (and let’s hope so), then surely a famous lore character will pick it up – like what happened to Ashbringer.
Now, the connection I made was because I suddenly remembered the movie trilogy about Jason Bourne. Both he and Muradin had been victims of a very extreme case of amnesia. But, the connection is more than just that, if you avoid the small details, and look at the “coincidences” with the the simple matter with the names. Muradin, King of the Frostborn, will carry Frostmourne.
Whether or not we’ll see him as a Death Knight however, is a whole other story… But it would probably be required, as only Death Knights wield runeblades.
